Sorry for the hiatus. I've been in NYC for the past few days to attend my grandpa's memorial services. We left for NYC on Tuesday morning at dawn and didn't get back until late this evening, and I probably got no more than 12 hrs of sleep, in total, over three days (yikes...how am I still coherent right now?).
The events of this past week have given me new perspective on the importance of family. I have a huge extended family on my mom's side - we number 28 people, at last count - and, with the exception of us "left-coasters" and two uncles, who live overseas, everyone is based in the Northeast (Manhattan, Long Island, Westchester, and Boston, MA). The loss of my grandpa has been very hard on my mom and her siblings, but familial solidarity is helping them get through these tough times.
On an unrelated note, I received a voicemail from the HR department of a firm I interviewed with last month. Even though I made it all the way through final round interviews, I had all but given up hope because I hadn't heard from them in 3 weeks. The voicemail didn't specify whether it was a "yay" or "nay" but, rather, that the HR person wanted to "discuss their decision with me"...(vague, much?) Anyway, I didn't receive the voicemail until after I got off the plane today, which was after business hours on the West Coast. I guess I'll have to wait until Monday to find out. Ohhh the suspense!
